Playwright and screenwriter, born in Israel in 1949. Most of his plays and films deal with political themes. Among his plays are: "Kastner", "Pangs of the Messiah", "Paula", and "Pollard", in the Cameri Theatre of Tel Aviv; "Exile in Jerusalem", "Passing The Love of Women" and "Doing his Will" in Habima National Theatre, "Autumn" in the Beit Lessin Theatre, Tel Aviv, "Hard Love" in the Municipal Theatre in Haifa, and "The Hastening of The End" in the Khan Theatre in Jerusalem. "The Admission" in Jaffa Theater, "I Was There" in Tzavta Theatre. Among his production in Europe: "Kastner", "Autumn", "The Muder of Isaac" in Heilbronn Theater, Germany, "Exile in Jerusalem" in Stuttgart, Berlin and Vienna, "Hard Love" in Rome and Berlin. His American productions include "The Murder of Isaac" in Centerstage Theatre in Baltimore (2006), "Passing the Love of Women" in Theater J in DC (2004), "Pangs of the Messiah" in Theater J (2007), in Silk Road Rising in Chicago (2009), Theater of Ideas, NY (2011) "Benedictus" in Golden Thread Theatre in San Francisaco (2007) and in Theater J (2009), "Paulus" in Silk Road Rising (2013), "Hard Love" in TACT, NY, "The Admission" in Theater J (2014), "After The War" in Mosaic Theater Company in DC (2016). He wrote the screenplays for the films: "Loves in Betania", "The Kastner Trial", "Bus Number 300", "Egoz", the 12 episodes of the TV drama series "The Institute", "A Battle in Jerusalem", "The Silence of the Sirens", "Altalena", "Spring 1941" and "Kapo in Jerusaelm". He is a recipient of the best play award (1985), and the Israeli Motion Picture Academy award for the best TV drama in 1995 and in 2004. He won the Prime Minister’s of Israel Award for his creative work (1994) and the Landau prize for the performing arts (2014). His plays have also been produced in the, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, South Africa, Australia, Canada and India. He wrote the books "According To Chekhov" (2011) and "The Playwright's Purpose" (2015). He taught playwriting at Tel Aviv University and the Kibbutz College in Tel Aviv, at Duke University, North Carolina 1997, Knox College, Illinois 2005, 2007, 2012 and was a fellow at the Institute of Advanced Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi 2010.
